Focusing on Independence

OPTIONS Self-Directed support services was created over 20 years ago. This program currently provides fiscal intermediary services to over 800 individuals.  All persons receiving services from OPTIONS are legally considered sole proprietors, each having their own individual Employment Identification Numbers (EIN) provided to them by the Internal Revenue Service.

This program is designed to create and increase the independence of people with Intellectual and Developmental and/or other disabilities.  OPTIONS participants control all resources at their disposal such as plan development, funds allocation, hiring staff of your choice, scheduling and supervision.

OPTIONS offers assistance with:

  • becoming an employer/ applying for an Employee Identification Number (EIN)
  • completing all necessary employee/employer related forms
  • purchasing worker’s compensation insurance
  • managing your financial resources effectively
  • filing & reporting all Federal and State payroll taxes
  • provide payments to approved employees, vendors and consultants
  • funds allocation

The majority of OPTIONS participants have supplemental funding sources- i.e., Medicaid, State; however, this program is also available as a private pay or fee-for-service basis.

Licensed by the RI Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals (BHDDH) and the RI Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS).
